Welcome to the latest quarterly update from the Hong Kong Academy of Finance.
We began the year by co-organising a conference with the European Central Bank and the Bank of Finland to discuss global economic challenges and opportunities for cooperation between Asia and Europe. This event was particularly timely, as it provided attendees from Europe and across the region with valuable context for the ongoing geoeconomic environment.
We also hosted a series of seminars featuring prominent experts in China's macro-economy and political science, focusing on global macro trends , China-US relations , and China's economic outlook following the Two Sessions in March.
The HKIMR is proud to have become an institutional member of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), a prestigious international network of leading policy researchers. This collaboration will allow us to expand our outreach efforts globally, beginning
with an International Conference on Generative AI in April.
For the second consecutive year, the HKIMR delivered a lecture series on Hong Kong's development as an international financial centre at the Hong Kong
University of Science and Technology. This year, we were honoured to have collaborated with the Women Chief Executive Group, featuring prominent female CEOs in Hong Kong as guest lecturers. A total of 40 students participated in the lecture series,
and we hope that the experience has inspired them as they consider their future career paths.
Under the HKIMR's Visiting Scholars programme, we hosted academics from Canada, Singapore, Germany, and the UK during the quarter.
Our flagship Financial Leaders Programme (FLP) is set to kick off its 2025 season . Our new cohort this year comprises a diverse mix of senior executives, and we look forward to an exciting series
of activities ahead.
In the coming months, we have a range of events and research projects in the pipeline. In addition to the International Conference on GenAI with CEPR in April, we will also be hosting the ASEAN+3 Finance Think-tank Network seminar in May, to discuss the
impact of technology advancement in the ASEAN+3 Region.
These events aim to bring together experts from around the world, providing valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange.
We have relocated to our new office at the International Commerce Centre in West Kowloon, and we look forward to hosting future events here.
I would like to thank you for your continuous support and wish everyone all the best for the remainder of the year.
Thank You!
