Eligibility

  • Financial talents at approximately two levels below the CEO position1 showing potential to become future leaders and with considerable experience in the financial industry. AoF Members meeting the pre-requisites are also eligible.
  • Based in Hong Kong and work in organisations related to the financial industry such as banks and payment services providers2 , securities and investment firms3 , insurers4 and pension funds5 , professional services firms (including accounting and legal professionals), financial regulators and academia in the field of finance.
  • Nominated by his or her employer.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professional competency, and possess a track record of leadership ability.
  • Display professional ethics and a high level of integrity throughout his or her career.
  • Commit to participate actively in at least 75% of the Programme.
  • Able to communicate well in English. Putonghua proficiency is a plus.

Make An Application

Application must be supported by the applicant’s employer. Each institution can nominate only one applicant in a year.

Each application must include:

(1) a nomination letter by the CEO of the applicant’s employer illustrating that the applicant has potential to be a future leader, and showing the employer’s support for the applicant to participate in the Programme, including allowing the applicant to attend the Programme during office hours; and

(2) a completed application form that includes a personal statement by the applicant on why he/she wants to apply and a resume/CV. The applicant may provide up to two more reference letters to support his/her application.

Selection

Applicants may be invited to meet with the CEO of the AoF and Director (Programme Development) between January 2024 and February 2024 to share their career aspirations and their expectations of the Programme.

When considering the applications, the AoF Membership Committee will take the following factors into account:

  • CVs of applicants, nomination letters by their CEOs, and any other reference letters submitted
  • Contribution of applicants to the financial industry in Hong Kong, for example, participation in Government and regulatory advisory committees, industry associations, and other initiatives to promote the development of the Hong Kong financial industry
  • A balanced mix of applicants with diverse background
  • Priority will be given to
    • AoF Members
    • Applicants who are based in Hong Kong
    • Applicants from firms with global/regional headquarters in Hong Kong

The AoF will inform all applicants of their application results in March 2024.

1Nomenclatures of post titles of talents at two levels below the CEO position vary among financial institutions. Generally, applicants with post titles such as managing director, business head, general manager, partner would be considered eligible for this Programme.

3Refers to Licensed Corporations and Registered Institutions under the Securities and Futures Commission.
