Message from the CEO

(02:34)

Hello everyone, this is my first CEO message for 2024.   As we approach our fifth year anniversary mark this year, the Hong Kong Academy of Finance continues to actively promote knowledge exchange, international collaborations, thought-leadership, and the development of future talents, which are the key strategic priorities we’ve set with the Board for the coming years.

On knowledge exchange, we have hosted three high-level seminars in Q1 covering the most topical issues relating to the global economic outlook, and the key trends driving the asset management industry.

We’re also honoured to have supported the events at the Hong Kong Green Week in February.  It gave us a great opportunity to join the Government’s efforts in promoting Green and Sustainable Finance.

Meanwhile, on thought-leadership, the HKIMR recently published an applied research report, comparing Hong Kong’s talent developments with other global financial centres.  We have been actively working with a number of industry associations to broaden the reach of the Report. We are glad to see that the Report has helped stimulate discussions on talent developments amongst industry participants.

Finally, on our flagship Financial Leaders Programme (FLP), I am pleased to say that we have just announced an exciting cohort for 2024, who come with a good mix of expertise and industry background.  We will soon kick start our usual programme of activities, providing our new cohort with opportunities to engage with top leaders to discuss the topics concerning Hong Kong’s future as an international financial centre.

We are also planning for more regular engagements with the FLP alumni network as part of a new initiative.

We have an exciting programme of events and research projects in the pipeline. We will soon be co-organising an International Conference on CBDCs and Payment Systems with the HKMA and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, with speakers coming from the IMF, the BIS, leading universities, and global central banks.  We will also be hosting our friends from the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office to present their upcoming regional economic outlook report.

I look forward to your continuous support, and I wish everyone all the best for the rest of the year!

Thank You!
