Module 3 – Regtech and Algo-Trading

On 20 May 2021, the Hong Kong Academy of Finance (AoF) conducted a webinar on “Regtech and Algo-Trading” under the Thematic Programme on Fintech and Digitalisation. About 110 AoF Members and senior practitioners in the financial industry participated in the webinar.
The webinar was kick started by Mr Arthur Yuen, Deputy Chief Executive of Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA). Mr Yuen shared what the HKMA is pursuing in the next few years to develop a more thriving Regtech ecosystem in Hong Kong. Prof Douglas Arner, Kerry Holdings Professor in Law of the University of Hong Kong, then introduced the conceptual issues and latest trends of Regtech across global markets and regulations. His session was followed by Ms Irene Lee, Co-Chair of Regtech Committee of Fintech Association of Hong Kong, who shared real life experience and insights in dealing with Regtech from a practitioner’s perspective. Finally, Prof S.M. Yiu of Department of Computer Science of the University of Hong Kong, shared his insights on algo-trading with real life examples.
