Module 1 – Fintech, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

On 8 April 2021, the Hong Kong Academy of Finance (AoF) launched the Thematic Programme on Fintech and Digitalisation with a webinar on “Fintech, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning”. About 100 AoF Members and senior practitioners in the financial industry participated in the webinar.
During his opening remarks, Mr KC Kwok, CEO of AoF shared his observations on how financial institutions have dedicated themselves to the digital transformation journey. The AoF was honoured to have Mr Henry Ma, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer of WeBank, and Professor Tam Kar Yan, Dean of Business and Management of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, as guest speakers. Mr Ma shared his insights on AI applications and governance in the banking industry while Prof Tam explained the concepts and applications of AI and machine learning. Mr Nelson Chow, Chief Fintech Officer of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, moderated the Q&A session with Prof Tam.
About the Thematic Programme on Fintech and Digitalisation
As part of the Leadership Development Programme, the Thematic Programme on Fintech and Digitalisation is designed for deepening participants’ understanding of various aspects of Fintech and inspiring them to promote a culture of Fintech adoption in their organisations. Consisting of four webinars of around two hours each, the Thematic Programme on Fintech and Digitalisation will cover the core elements of artificial intelligence, machine learning, cryptography, algo-trading, RegTech, and their practical applications. Leading industry experts will share with participants their insights of Fintech transformation in the financial services industry while renowned academics will enable participants to enhance their understanding of the key elements of digital innovation.
