On 25 October 2024, Mr Enoch Fung, CEO of the Hong Kong Academy of Finance (AoF), moderated a panel discussion on "Talent strategies for the fast-evolving industry landscape" at the Asian Actuarial Conference 2024 organised by the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong.

During the discussion, Ms Orchis Li, General Manager, General Reinsurance HK, Ms Carmony Wong, Senior Vice President, Southeast Asia Markets & Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong, RGA, and Prof Kar Yan Tam, Vice President for Administration and Business, HKUST, joined Mr Fung in sharing their views about talent development in the actuarial industry, and the best practices in talent strategies for insurance companies amidst the ever-evolving industry landscape, technology advancements and regulatory changes. The panellists also had a lively discussion about how the actuarial professionals can better equip themselves to increase their value proposition in their organisations, and how to strengthen the collaborations between the insurance industry and universities in preparing for the pipeline of talents.

A related study could be found in the applied research report on “Advancing Talent Development in Financial Services: Emerging Global Trends and Their Impact on Hong Kong” released by the Hong Kong Institute for Monetary and Financial Research (HKIMR) in December 2023.
