HKU-BIS-AoF International Conference on Fintech and Financial Stability

The Hong Kong Academy of Finance (AoF), the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the Bank for International Settlements Asian Office (BIS AO) co-organised the “International Conference on Fintech and Financial Stability” on 10 July 2023. The conference brings together leading experts from around the world to share their views and analyses on the latest developments on topics regarding Fintech and Financial Stability, which include “The macro-financial landscape and the fintech revolution”, “Innovation in lending and risk management”, “The future of the financial system and regulation” and “Financial services and technology: opportunities and challenges”. Darryl Chan, Deputy Chief Executive of Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Deputy Chairman of Hong Kong Academy of Finance, gave the welcome remarks.
The distinguished speakers included Professor Hélène Rey and Richard Portes from London Business School, Professor Patrick Bolton from Columbia Business School, Professor Wei Xiong from Princeton University, Professor Chen Lin from HKU and Professor Hui Chen from MIT Sloan School of Management while Professor Bengt Holmström, 2016 Nobel Laureate in Economics, from MIT joined a panel session virtually. Besides, Mr Hyun Song Shin, Economic Adviser and Head of Research of BIS, made a virtual presentation based on Chapter 3 of this year BIS annual economic report, and Mr Hakan Eroglu from BIS Innovation Hub (BIS-IH) Hong Kong Centre presented on the work of BIS-IH.
The conference was attended by about 70 participants on site.
