Dialogue with Howard Lee

Mr Howard Lee, Deputy Chief Executive, Hong Kong Monetary Authority, had an
interactive dialogue with our 2023 FLP cohort at the HKMA office on 19 July 2023.
During the session moderated by Ms Kim Lay, Managing Director, Head of Digital
Banking, Hang Seng Bank, Mr Lee gave an overview of the HKMA’s digitalisation
and FinTech initiatives such as Faster Payment System (FPS) and Commercial Data
Interchange (CDI), and the development of virtual assets, including wholesale
CBDC. The dialogue also touched upon issues related to cryptocurrencies,
connectivity with Mainland payment systems and the long-term objectives of the
Exchange Fund.
