HKIMR-IMF Webinar on "External Rebalancing in Turbulent Times"

The HKIMR and The IMF Resident Representative Office in Hong Kong SAR jointly hosted a webinar on “External Rebalancing in Turbulent Times” on 8 September morning.
The webinar focused on the 2023 External Sector Report by IMF. Speakers Jiaqian Chen, Deputy Division Chief and Lukas Boer, Economist of the IMF’s Research Department shared their findings of the main chapter under the theme of external rebalancing in turbulent times, and the thematic chapter analysing external sector implications of the global dollar cycle. The IMF Resident Representative in Hong Kong SAR, Phakawa Jeasakul moderated the Q & A session.
Enoch Fung, CEO of the AoF and Executive Director of the HKIMR, discussed the need for policy efforts to promote external rebalancing in both excess surplus and deficit economies.
Around 50 participants attended the webinar.
